I realize this is late in the game, however I wonder if I may have another chance to post. In my last entry I was having a haiku moment, still under the influence of hot chocolate and tickled at the synchronicity of your topic and that evening’s drink of choice. I failed, in my brevity, to integrate.
I t seems to me the Military/industrial/complex isn’t the big bro anymore, it is the pharmaceutical companies/food and drug administration/insurance/medical association (with the government in their pockets) that have us by the balls, heart, throat, mind.
They want us sick.
My little hippie wellness drink, which took less time to make then it takes to stand in line at a coffee shop, is my delicious f#$&#k you to them all.
First, all organic, no GMO. I’m not supporting Monsanto’s mutation, molecular pollution of paradise. Can you imagine if every time you ate a meal your waiter, chef, mom, lover, would say “Would you like poison or no poison?” Which would you choose? Of course a Twinkie or cheese fries is wonderful once and a while but poison, GMO corn syrup in every meal? No. Plus organic Maple syrup tastes so much better. Tree juice! Trees are strong, upright; get along well with other trees. You are what you eat, right?
The soymilk packs 14 grams of protein so my body/brain gets the amino acids it needs for my thymus gland to produce the feel good hormones serotonin, 5-htp and L-dopa. I don’t need lithium or estrogen crème.
The dark chocolate is rich in flavon-3-ol, an antioxidant that protects against bad cholesterol and neutralizes free radicals; better then Botox for it’s anti aging benefits, sometimes I add Chile (an anti-inflammatory) for the circulation, cinnamon to open the senses, so no viagra, Advil, fat burners or Prozac. No side effects. The splash of Grand Marnier thins the blood and relaxes the ventricle system there by increasing oxygen and the detoxification of the lungs. Forget Kumadine and oxycotine
Mostly health is about balance, not too much, not to little. Strange how everything they try to sell us is a chopped up, ruined bit of nature. Although there is no cure for mortality, it is true it’s more nourishing, and more enjoyable just to eat the real thing. Comforting, really.

Cheney is Evil Incarnate. I swear even a still photo of him exudes malevolence.

Mallomars!I haven't snacked on mallomars in ages, and now I want one and the stores are closed. Time to nap until they open :-)

It's not whining, it's venting.
We're so polarized from the Bush/Cheney regime and I think that's what they wanted. They succeeded at that!
I need a mallomar.

Every time I see Obama on TV these days he looks borderline heartbroken, and it makes me sad, and not just because he's hot (hunka hunka burnin' love). There are so, it seems too, many farcical and dangerous idiots for him to defeat. If I hear the words 'socialism' or (Mr. Dobbs cover your ears) 'communism' to refer to providing universal health care to America's citizenry I'm gonna pull my hair out. And as a Czech-born Canadian, I feel nauseous every time I see a politician point his/her fingers MY way and label my country 'Communiss!' Communism is a tank rolling down a narrow street while an 18-year-old kid on top of a tank points a gun at your 4-year-old head. And neither of you seem to know what for. Ensuring your citizens, regardless of ability to pay, receive care so they can enjoy good health, or simply avoid death? It's a horrible thing to wish, but I do sometimes wish that the Iron Fist of true capital-c-Communism would come down on the heads of the Sarah Palins of the world. And as for socialist? If providing universal health care is socialist, so what? Anyway, sorry for my whining, but this topic really gets me going, it hurts me at a very basic level. I _am_ very happy that Baby Alex Lange finally got his health insurance despite his obvious obesity. You're 4 months old Alex - get on that treadmill already, /B

I had a severe addiction to Hostess cupcakes when I was a kid. When I could sneak one, it was a treat because our mother, even way back then, curtailed our junk food intake. When I see them now, I still feel a little thrill even though consuming one is like swallowing an artificially flavored chocolate anvil.

For a while there, I had a severe addiction to Milk Chocolate Whippets. They're a fancy, dark chocolate kind of Mallowmar. That is, I thought they were fancy because I bought them in a French gourmet food store. I could not open the box without eating the whole thing in one sitting. I started buying a box a day. Then a friend of mine said, "I looked at the ingredients on the side of your beloved Whippets, and guess what? They're pure poison--it's cancer food!" She was right: hydrogenated this, corn syrup that. I never ate them again.

Yes, but Susan...low fat milk is the first ingredient in Kozy Shack. An argument can be made for eating that stuff. Sugar is the first ingredient in this crap. And the second ingredient is corn syrup!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't understand any of it. I'm beginning to think my visual and auditory processing skills are being devoured by dementia. Even the wording of explanations is confusing. The only people who seem to understand the public option thing are crazed extremists who confidently say that anyone over 60 will be euthanized, we're all going to Hell with diseased colons, or blah, blah, drool, slurp.
I was so desperate that I asked a wise three-year-old if he understood it all. He said, "yes" I said, "Would you please explain it to me? " and he said, "I don't want to". So I will wait
How can we expect Obama to clean up any messes or start any positive change from this pit that was dug for us?
Thanks for the comfort food tip. Chocolate pudding is a favorite of mine, especially the Kozy Shack brand that comes in a 16oz carton. It's as good as homemade. Key ingredients- low fat milk, sugar, tapioca starch, and inulin!!??. You could whip in some broccoli or beet puree to increase the nutrition. I'll stop now and try some Women's Wellness.
